Created in 1991, the UJI has positioned itself as a friendly university characterized by its personalized attention, its fluid management and the high participation of its members in university life due, among other things, to its convenient size, with nearly 15,000 students and its integrated, modern, functional and sustainable campus. Twenty-eight university departments make up its four Areas: Technology and Experimental Sciences, Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Law and Economics. Fourteen research institutes carry out outstanding work in various areas of knowledge with high links with the Valencian Community’s other economic and social sectors. On August 12, 2020, the European Commission awarded the Universitat Jaume I, the “HR Excellence in Research (HRS4R)” quality award. Through this award, the European Commission recognizes institutions that, based on a personalized approach strategy, are aligning their human resources policies with the 40 principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The UJI is the tenth best Spanish university according to THE World University Rankings 2019 with its most significant strengths focused on the fields of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international projection. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the UJI is part of the RUVID Association; the Network of Valencian Universities of Strategy and R&D Action Plan of the Generalitat Valenciana in Horizon 2020, which is the EURAXESS Service Center for the Valencian Community. The close relationship between professors and students at the Universitat Jaume I allows professors to achieve a level of educational excellence that guarantees a clearly defined educational model based on lifelong learning, comprehensive training and active participation in social progress on the foundations of peace, equity, solidarity relations and respect for the environment. The UJI is also distinguished by the internationalization of its activities, the result of the need for openness to the world, the characteristic of young European universities, and the socio-economic needs of the Valencian Community. Founded when the information society was immersed in the process of consolidation, the development of the Universitat Jaume I has been marked by advances in information and communication technologies (ICT). For this reason, the application of ICT in learning and research processes and in university management has always been a protagonist at the Universitat Jaume I, to the point of being a pioneer in this field with initiatives such as the creation of the first Spanish web server or the first Center for Education and New Technologies in Spain. The quality management carried out at the Universitat Jaume I, both in the teaching field and in the administration and provision of services, is based on procedures in accordance with the most demanding international standards. The links that the UJI maintains with the business and institutional sector and with the community in general of Castelló are also very close.
